Jean-Christophe’s life changed completely when he arrived in Great Britain in 1983. he spent a year taking care of Keith Floyd’s pub, ‘The Maltsters’, as Head Chef, whilst Keith was filming his famous TV shows.
In 1996, Jean-Christophe, then opened four restaurants in London, and so began the foundations for his internationally based mini empire. What is so surprising is that he only had £500 in his pocket to start this solo venture.
In 2007, in recognition of his achievements in the culinary arts and as a broadcaster, Jean-Christophe Novelli received Honorary Doctor of Arts from Bedfordshire University for his 30 years in the trade and achievements in cooking.
His passion for sharing his wealth of knowledge led him to open his own cookery school, The Novelli Academy, in his personal kitchen at his Farm near Luton. Within three months of being open it was voted amongst the ‘Top 25 Cookery Schools in the World’ and has increased in popularity ever since, with courses and demonstrations booked out up to six months in advance.
In spring 2018 he opened a new brasserie restaurant “Novelli at City Quays”, within the fabulous Marriott AC Hotel in Belfast and it is going from strength to strength.
Jean-Christophe has appeared in a number of TV programmes (eg Hell’s Kitchen, The Jonathon Ross Show, A League of their Own, and Culinary Genius in the UK and Top Chef, Chef Academy and MTV Cribs in the USA).
Jean-Christophe is also one of the winners of “Celebrity Hunted” which aired on C4 over recent months! Maybe you were one of the millions who watched him and his fellow fugitives beating “the Hunters”!!!
